The BPSE complex daily handles the waste from 413 apartments and 15 commercial tenancies. Managing this amount of refuse while maintaining a tidy, hygienic, odour and vermin free environment requires considerable time and effort on the part of the complex's staff.

This page aims to inform residents on how to use the waste management infrastructure most effectively and thereby assist the staff in keeping the complex a pleasant place to live in for all.

Bin Chute Room

Bin Chute Room interior

A Rubbish Chute Room is present on each level of every building directly adjacent to the lifts. They are open 24/7.

The chute can be used to dispose of ordinary bagged kitchen waste (i.e. green waste).

Rubbish, glassware, packaging or other items must not be discarded on the floor of a bin chute room as it poses a health and fire hazard.

The chute should not be used to dispose of the following:

  • Glassware.
  • Recyclables items.
  • Packaging.
  • Umbrellas.
  • Liquids of any kind.
  • Un-bagged kitchen waste.
  • Corrosive or hazardous substances.
  • Extra large items that could block the chute.

Packaging, glassware, recyclable and large items must be taken to the ground floor General Rubbish Room and sorted before being correctly placed in one of the designated skips.

Bin Chute Room FloorRubbish, glassware, packaging or other items must not be discarded on the floor of the bin chute rooms.

NOTE:Disposing of glassware down the rubbish chutes is strictly prohibited as glass shatters with explosive force upon reaching ground level, potentially injuring the cleaning staff working below.



General Rubbish Room

The General Rubbish Room is for the disposal of all items that are not suitable for the Hard Rubbish Room.

The room contains skips arranged into categories that reflect the type of rubbish that is suitable for it. Each category is sign posted on the wall behind it. The waste categories are:

  • Recyclable Waste
    Glass, plastic bottles and containers, tins and aerosol cans, milk and juice cartons.
    No plastic bags.
    ➤ These skips are denoted by YELLOW signs:

  • Cardboard / Paper Waste
    Cardboard, egg cartons and paper products.
    No polystyrene or other plastics.
    ➤ These skips are denoted by BLUE signs:

  • Non-recyclable General Waste
    All waste that does not fit the above categories.
    Plastic bags acceptable.

Hard Rubbish Room

Hard Rubbish Room interior

The Hard Rubbish Room is for the disposal of large non-perishable items such as furniture and old white goods like washing machines, microwaves, dryers, fridges etc.

Discarded items should be placed at the far end of the room so that others have enough space. The Hard Rubbish Room is open 24/7.
